“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
— Hebrews 10:23-25
What is Discipleship?
A disciple is a student, a learner, a follower who is pursuing and learning a way of life. Christians who seek to follow Jesus are called disciples -- we're learning, from Jesus, how to be more like him. Christian Discipleship is the process of transformation that happens as we learn and grow in Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Transformation happens as we believe in Jesus, learn who he is and follow his commands. As we grow in him, we choose to obey him, and our lives begin to change. As we grow as disciples the fruit of the Spirit's work within us - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and so on - are to flow out of our lives and out of our church family, into our ministries, and as a witness to our families, city and world.
Tiers of Discipleship
Discipleship at Dryden Full Gospel is rooted, first and foremost, in the Word of God. Thus, the 'top tier' of discipleship for every believer is our Sunday morning worship service. This service is designed for all ages and is a time when the entire church engages with the Word preached and is encouraged to grow together as a community of faith.
The 'second tier' of discipleship, has to do with 'Education, Fellowship & Shepherding' - through Sunday School, Monthly Church Family Meals, True North Christian Academy and Congregational Care through our pastoral team and elders.
The 'third tier', of discipleship focuses on particular age groups: youth, seniors, men, and women. Here disciples can engage with their peers, pray and encourage one another, and grow together as disciples of Jesus.
