Welcome to the A Chapter A Day interactive blog at Dryden Full Gospel Church!

If you've found this, you likely attended one of our services and have heard about what we're doing here. Or maybe you've stumbled upon this through our website. Whichever it is, we're glad you're here!

Over the past few weeks, we've been talking about the new vision that we're rolling out at DFGC. In reality, this vision is anything but new - it is a call to return to some of the basics of faith that we can often find ourselves wandering away from. So far, we've talked about the Biblical Mandate (Matthew 28:16-20), we've talked about the need to return to prayer as the pulse of our walk with Jesus, and today was a talk about discipleship - a large part of which is returning to a focus on spiritual practices.

With that in mind, I am excited to introduce A Chapter A Day! Before I get too far, I need to be completely up front and honest - this was not at all my own idea. A friend and fellow pastor, Todd Petkau, from Winnipeg challenged his church with this several years ago. He had actually been telling me about this while I was away on my vision casting retreat, and I kept feeling drawn back to it. Although he told me no credit is needed, I wanted to make sure that it was clear this was a borrowed ideas.

So what is the A Chapter A Day reading challenge? I'm glad you asked! Each day, we will read a chapter or two from the Bible which will be laid out in a reading plan. My commitment is to read along with you every single day, and I will post my thoughts about the day's reading here in this blog. Everyone is encouraged to come to this blog each day to read and interact with the Scripture in this space. The idea is that we get more people actively reading the Word and thinking about it and interacting with one another in relation to it. The one request that I have is that we keep the conversation civil - be respectful an kind to those who are interacting.

If you attend DFGC, I will have the reading plan for each month laid out on a bookmark that you can conveniently keep with your Bible. If you are joining us online, I will post a copy of the reading plan here so that you can follow along.

I am excited to see what the Lord does through our time of reading Scripture together as a Body. So grab your Bible, and let's dive into John as we begin this journey together today! Check back later on today for my post about John 1.

I look forward to hearing from each of you here in the comments section!
